Founder of Melchor Coaching™
Creator of the Melchor Technical Test™, 

Martin Melchor is a former NCAA Division I player at Coastal Carolina University, where he was part of a Top 25 program, won three conference championships, appeared in four NCAA Tournaments, and reached the NCAA Sweet 16. He is currently the Head Coach at Angelina College, a nationally ranked NJCAA program.

Martin grew up playing primarily local recreational soccer in Jacksonville, Texas, while being developed through years of repetitive technical training with his dad. That experience shaped his belief that a player’s technical foundation, daily habits, and individual training matter deeply in long-term development.

As Martin continued through the game at the college level, he saw the same pattern among many successful players. The best players consistently had one thing in common: they were technically sound and had spent time developing their game outside of team training. The team they played was not an indicator of talent. 

That connection between Martin’s playing experience, coaching career, and research background became the foundation of Melchor Coaching™.

Drawing from his experience as a player, college coach, Ph.D. in Sport Management, and the deliberate practice framework pioneered by K. Anders Ericsson, Martin created the Melchor Technical Test™ to help players and parents answer one important question:

Where does my player actually stand technically?

The test provides objective scores in ball control, passing, dribbling, heading, and shooting. Those scores create a clear baseline, identify strengths and weaknesses, and help families track progress over time.
